The Founding Builders Club

What is the Founding Builders Club?

It’s our signature program: four Saturday building experiences, about 90 minutes to 2 hours each, for kids ages 7 to 12 in the Baltimore, MD and Philadelphia, PA areas. Builders stay in the same small group all four weeks, so skills and confidence build from one Saturday to the next.

How much does the Founding Builders Club cost?

The Founding Builders Club is $225 per builder for the full four-week program. That is equivalent to $56.25 per weekly session.

The $225 registration includes:

  • Four weekly Builders Club experiences
  • All project materials
  • Guided building instruction
  • Tool instruction
  • Safety instruction

$225 is the founding price for our initial Builders Club cohorts. Families register for the complete four-week program; it isn’t billed weekly. Joining the Founding Families List is free and requires no payment.

Is it a four-week commitment?

Yes. The Builders Club is designed as a four-week experience, and each week builds on the one before. Builders register for the full program and stay in the same cohort across all four Saturdays.

What are the cohort times?

We’re planning 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM cohorts. Available cohort times will be confirmed when registration opens for each location. Builders stay in the same cohort for all four Saturdays.

What if we miss a Saturday?

Life happens. Let us know as early as you can. Because each cohort is small and materials are prepared for each builder, details on missed sessions will be shared during registration, before payment.

Where and when are sessions?

Saturdays, in two launch areas:

  • Baltimore Area: White Marsh / Perry Hall and surrounding communities
  • Philadelphia Area: venue announced with cohort registration

Exact dates, available cohort times, and venue information will be announced when each location opens for registration. Founding Families hear first.

How many kids are in a cohort?

Each cohort is limited to 10 builders, so every child gets real attention and guidance.

Do you offer single sessions?

Selected Single Build Workshops may be offered throughout the year for $65 per builder, for families looking for a one-time Brave Hands experience. They’re separate from the Builders Club, not one week of the four-week program.

What ages is Brave Hands for?

Builders Club is designed for kids ages 7 to 12. Projects are planned so younger builders can succeed and older builders can stretch.

My child is 6 or 13. Can they join?

The program is built for ages 7 to 12, and that range keeps tools, projects, and group dynamics a good fit. If your child is just outside it, email hello@bravehandsco.com and tell us a little about them.

Can siblings join the same cohort?

Yes, as space allows. Each sibling registers as their own builder, and each cohort is limited to 10 builders.

Does my child need any building experience?

No previous building experience is required. Just curiosity and a willingness to try. Every skill is taught from the ground up.

What will my child build?

That is part of the fun. We intentionally do not reveal every Brave Hands project ahead of time. Builders arrive knowing they are going to create something, and they discover exactly what that is when the experience begins.

Projects may involve measuring, designing, assembling, sanding, fastening, problem solving, and other practical building skills. You will know when you get here. You will know how you built it when you leave.

What does it mean to be a Founding Family?

Founding Families are families who join our list during the Brave Hands launch period. They receive:

  • 48-hour early access to registration before remaining spaces are released publicly
  • Access to the $225 Founding Builders Club price
  • First notice of cohort dates and venue information
  • First opportunity to choose from available cohort times

It’s free to join, with no commitment and no payment required.

Does joining the Founding Families List reserve a seat?

No. Joining the list does not reserve a seat. Cohorts are limited to 10 builders. Founding Families receive 48-hour early access when registration opens, but joining the list does not guarantee a seat. Registration is subject to availability.

Which area should I choose on the form?

Choose Baltimore, MD area, Philadelphia, PA area, or Either area. Baltimore and Philadelphia cohorts will open separately, so this tells us where to send your early-access notice.

What is a Founding Builder?

Founding Builders are the kids who participate in and complete one of our initial Founding Builders Club cohorts, and they’re recognized as Founding Builders. (A Founding Family is the family who joined the list; a Founding Builder is the child who completed the program.)

Is Brave Hands against screens and technology?

Not at all. Technology is an important part of kids’ lives. Brave Hands is about balance, giving kids experiences a screen can’t replace.

Safety & what to expect

Do parents stay during the session?

Parents and guardians should be prepared to remain for the first 15 minutes of each Builders Club session. This allows families to get settled, hear important safety and session information, and make sure their builder is comfortable.

Is it drop-off after the first 15 minutes?

Parents and guardians should plan to stay for the first 15 minutes of each session. Details about drop-off, pick-up, and where families can wait will be shared when each cohort opens for registration.

What should my child wear?

Closed-toe shoes are required. Long hair should be secured. Clothes that can get a little dusty are a good idea.

Is it safe for kids to use real tools?

Safety is taught as a skill, not an afterthought. Kids learn how a tool works and how to use it with care before using it on a project, with close supervision throughout. Tools and projects are chosen with the age group in mind.

What about allergies, medical needs, or accessibility?

Families will have an opportunity during registration to disclose allergies, medical considerations, accessibility needs, or other information that may help Brave Hands safely support their child.

What are the behavior expectations?

Safe building requires every builder to listen to instructions, respect tools and materials, and treat other builders respectfully.

Parents will review and acknowledge complete participation expectations before their child participates.

Registration & refunds

What is your cancellation and refund policy?

Cancellation, transfer, and refund terms will be provided during registration before payment. Because project materials are purchased and prepared for each builder, certain registration fees may become nonrefundable as a session approaches.

Do I pay when I join the Founding Families List?

No. The list is free, with no commitment. Registration and payment for the $225 Founding Builders Club come later, when a cohort opens in your area.

Bookings & birthday parties

Can Brave Hands come to our school, program, or group?

Yes, within the Baltimore, MD and Philadelphia, PA regions. We work with schools, after-school programs, camps, youth programs, churches, community organizations, libraries, homeschool groups, and private groups. You bring the builders and the space. We bring the experience. Send a booking inquiry or email bookings@bravehandsco.com.

Do you do birthday parties?

Yes. Brave Hands birthday experiences let kids build, create, and leave with something they actually made themselves. Ask about a birthday party and we’ll follow up with options.

What’s included when we book Brave Hands?

It depends on the experience. Brave Hands can provide project materials, tools, safety instruction, setup, and guided building instruction. We’ll confirm exactly what’s included for your group before anything is booked.

Who leads Brave Hands?

Brave Hands was founded by Raheem Harvey, an experienced educator and educational leader whose teaching experience includes the United States, South Korea, and China.
